Veneers

Q&As:

What are Veneers?

Veneers are used to change tooth imperfections such as stained or chipped teeth, they are made with either porcelain or composite materials and are bonded to the tooth surface using a dental cement.

What materials are used?

There are two types of veneers we offer at Dental Smiles, Porcelain veneers or Composite veneers.
Porcelain -
Porcelain veneers are a wafer thin ceramic shell that is cemented to the front of your teeth.

Composite -
Composite veneers are created using acrylic resin applied in thin layers and hardened using a blue curing light. The veneers are then shaped and polished to mimic your natural smile.

How long does it take?

Porcelain -
Porcelain veneers require two appointments, one to prepare and scan your teeth, one to fit the veneers, ofen this is a two week time frame from start to finish.

Composite -
Composite veneers are crafted in the dentist’s chair, so you can restore the look of your smile in a single session, and require almost no tooth preparation.

How much does it cost?

Porcelain -
Porcelain veneers are £795-£850 per tooth and can last 15-20 years if looked after well.

Composite -
Composite veneers are from £350 per tooth, they are also the most affordable type of veneers and can last from 5 to 10 years.

What happens at my appointment?

Porcelain -
A small amount of enamel is shaved off your tooth during the treatment to accommodate the veneer shell. We then take a 3D scan of your teeth that gets sent to our lab where they then create your bespoke veneer, you will come back two weeks later and we will cement your porcelain veneer on.

Composite -

Composite veneers are created using acrylic resin applied in thin layers and hardened using a blue curing light. The veneers are then shaped and polished to mimic your natural smile.
